Shop Items Tier List

The in-game shop sells tools, not morphs. Morphs come from cages. Gear changes how you walk the school. This page ranks Catnip, Smelly Fish, Spring Shoes, the Busted Teleport Remote, and yarn with the same S–D rules as Morphs Tier List Hub: progression and stealth first, collection last.

Play Cats Morphs: Friend Rescue is free, released, and fully playable without Robux. Shop gear is optional. How-to use each item: Shop Gear. How the items feel in motion: Controls and Stealth. Secrets that actually require the remote: Secret Friends.

Rank table

TierItemJob
SCatnipSprint between rooms. Three-floor candy-box hunts and Friday scavenger passes become realistic in one sitting.
SSmelly FishKnocks out hall monitors and purrfessors. Detention sends you to the Floor 1 lobby; this item is the paid version of not getting caught.
ASpring ShoesJump gaps, knight parkour, high cages. Strong on Floor 1 knights and Floor 3 lily pads. Not required if you can time jumps.
BYarnToy first, light puzzle second. Official Floor 3 unlock footage uses a yarn ball to open a door and roll onto buttons. Fun on 10-player servers. Weak as a “must buy.”
DBusted Teleport RemoteTeleport anywhere, including the Angel and Lucifur room. Robux skip. Does not teach the school. Buy last, if at all.

S-tier gear matches S-tier morphs. Catnip plus a lobby morph is speed. Smelly Fish plus Teacher’s Pet is overkill stealth, which is exactly what you want on Floor 3 gym teachers. Spring Shoes are A because parkour exists on every floor but you can learn the jumps free. Yarn is B because the school already gives you a ball to play with, and only a few doors care. The remote is D because it deletes the scavenger hunt you joined the game to play, then sells you two D-tier morphs.

Catnip and Smelly Fish

Catnip is the first Robux spend that is allowed to be called useful. Official Valentine footage uses it to cross all three floors while farming candy boxes. The same pattern applies to any Friday pickup: boxes, eggs, paints, or zodiac portals that are not next to spawn. Pair Catnip with stealth, not instead of stealth. Sprinting in front of a purrfessor is how you donate your Floor 3 position to the lobby.

Smelly Fish is the detention tax refund. One whiff knocks out hall monitors and professors. If you keep dying to the same patrol on the cafeteria sight line, this item is worth more than Spring Shoes. It does not replace Teacher’s Pet. Teacher’s Pet is a morph you keep; Smelly Fish is a tool you fire. Own both if you hate lobby respawns.

Skip both if you are still on the Floor 1 lobby cluster. Tex, Oreo, Luna, Lucky, and Patches do not require paid speed. Buy Catnip after you know the map well enough that walking, not navigation, is the bottleneck.

Spring Shoes and yarn

Spring Shoes make the knight cluster (Galahad, Arthur, Lancelot, Scully) and several Floor 2/3 lily-pad rooms less annoying. Players have cleared those rooms without the shoes. Buy them if you have already fallen off the same ledge three times. Do not buy them because a thumbnail said “required.”

Yarn is in the game description for a reason: you play with it. On a 10-player server that is half the fun. The same ball has been used in official clips to open a door and to roll onto a button during the Floor 3 unlock. That is why yarn is B instead of unranked. It is not S. You will not yarn-ball a hall monitor to death.

If you are choosing one paid item for parkour, Spring Shoes beat yarn. If you are choosing one item for a kid who just wants to roll around the lobby, yarn beats everything, and that is a valid purchase that still does not help badges.

When to skip Robux

Skip the Busted Teleport Remote until:

  • Floor 1 through Floor 3 free friends are done.
  • Grim, Sapphire, and the knight cluster are done.
  • You still want Angel and Lucifur on purpose.

The remote teleports you anywhere and, if you keep using it, into the Angel/Lucifur hiding spot. That is the advertised unlock. It is also how players skip learning keys. Keys still matter for doors you will walk through on later Fridays. Learn them on Controls and Stealth first.

Skip all shop gear until lobby S-tier morphs are rescued. There is no final boss. The school is the game.

Spend Robux, if you spend any, in this order: Smelly Fish or Catnip (monitors versus walking time), then Spring Shoes, then yarn, then the remote as a collector’s last buy. That order matches S, S, A, B, D.

A 60-box Valentine hall is faster with Catnip and still completable without it. A Floor 3 zodiac portal does not require the remote. Gear does not change friend types: a remote Angel is still D. Buy tools for the job you are doing this session.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Cat-School rescues, morphs, and Friday drops.

What should I buy first?

Nothing, until lobby cats are rescued. After that, Catnip or Smelly Fish. Catnip if the map feels slow; Smelly Fish if detention is the problem.

Is the Busted Teleport Remote worth it?

Only if you want Angel and Lucifur. It is D-tier for progression. The school is fully playable without it.

Do Spring Shoes replace skill on the knight rooms?

They make jumps easier. Galahad, Arthur, Lancelot, and Scully are still a B-tier parkour cluster. You can clear them without the shoes.

Is yarn just a toy?

Mostly. Official Floor 3 unlock footage also uses a yarn ball on a door and a button. Rank B: useful once, fun always.

Can shop gear get me limited-time cats faster?

Catnip and Smelly Fish speed holiday box hunts. They do not spawn a rotated-out Pisces. Skip the remote for those events.

Do I need Robux to finish Friend Rescue?

No. The game is free. Robux buys convenience and two D-tier secrets. Keys, stealth, and floor routes are the real tools.
